Ray Charles

Ray Charles Robinson was an American musician, who was a pioneer in soul music. Ray was born in Albany, Georgia in 1930. Whose parents was Aretha William, a sharecropper, and Bailey Robinson.

Ray showed special interest for music. One day he heard "boogie woogie" on a piano. That day, he learnt the basic musical scales for blue.

But, the disgrace appeared in Ray's life. His brother died drowned when he was 4. This tragical experience stamped for the rest of his life. Some years after, Ray started to lose his sight. When he was 7, he became completely blind. His mother died when he was 15, and his father, 3 years later.

Alone and without help, Ray began to play in local radios and bars. His voice and his talent for piano stared to be famous. In 1953 he scored his first singles called "Mess Around". Ten years later, he became one of the most famous musician in USA. His music were played in radios all over the country.

In 1965, Ray was arrested for possession of heroin. He was taken to a clinic for rehabilitation. He won his fight against drug and came back to music

Ray Charles died in 2004. His music still remains around the world as a proof of his extraordinary talent.
